Bindweed School of Agroecology

Anyone interested in an ecological local food system, as well as all volunteers, homesteaders, and collaborators are invited to this season kick-off event. After several months of recalibration, the Bindweed School of Agroecology is opening the next chapter of the organization’s work.
|
This event will be a chance to celebrate all that has happened at the Niwot Homestead, introduce everyone to the new operating location at the Farmstead School, share a little bit about the group's evolving vision and programming, and have a good time. Herbal teas and appetizers featuring last year’s farm bounty will be provided.

Join the NCC's monthly meeting for a presentation by world renowned bird expert, videographer, birding and wildlife tour guide, serious adventurer and longtime Niwot resident, John Vanderpoel. John will share stories from his “Big Year” of birding and the book he wrote about those experiences titled "Full Chase Mode."

This special afternoon of tunes features up to 11 talented local artists performing their renditions of familiar songs with original pieces thrown in.

Altona, The History of the Grange & the Lost Town of Altona

When Altona was founded in the 1860's, the town had grand plans. Located upstream from the mouth of Left Hand Canyon, the area was to serve as a gateway to the mining towns of Ward, Gold Hill, and Jamestown. As it transitioned to an agricultural community, the town founded a grange. Hear the fascinating story of Altona and the Grange that is still inexistence.

The NCA will be holding its annual meeting at Niwot Hall. St. Vrain Valley School District Superintendent, Dr. Jackie Kapushion will be the highlight speaker of the evening.

The meeting will also go over Niwot-centric issues, including actions the NCA is involved with around the incorporation initiative. Note: this is not an open forum to discuss incorporation.

The NCA board member election results will be announced at the meeting. Voting for the board elections is open to members April 7-21.
