The Sand Creek Massacre, where hundreds of Cheyenne and Arapaho were tragically killed, took place 160 years ago this year in southeastern Colorado. Mosqueda is the Sand Creek Massacre Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Representative. NAGPRA, a law that was passed in 1990, provides a process for federal agencies and museums that receive federal funds to repatriate or hand over Native American items from their collections back to descendants and tribes.
